Colgate University Men's Soccer set off on a packed 10-day tour of England that mixed soccer, culture, and life-long memories. The trip was a Vertex Soccer experience of matches, live games, training, and experiencing England.
They kicked off with Nottingham Forest U19 at Wilford Lane Training Ground, their first taste of English youth football. Next came Sheffield Wednesday U19, a challenging Yorkshire test, and they wrapped up with a game against Loughborough University.
In addition to these games, they experienced live matches from two different viewpoints: Reading FC vs. Millwall FC at the Select Car Leasing Stadium shortly after landing, and a front-row seat at the Etihad Stadium as Manchester City scored 7 against RB Leipzig in the Champions League Round of 16.
The tour prioritized physical readiness, starting with a sharp training session at Powerleague Nottingham, located just outside the city center. They also bonded at St. George's Park, enhancing teamwork through high ropes courses and climbing walls.
Beyond soccer, the tour included a visit to Windsor Castle for a taste of England's history and charm, along with free days in Nottingham, Manchester, and London. For soccer enthusiasts, a tour of Etihad Stadium fulfilled a dream – walking in the footsteps of legends.
As the tour wrapped up, the Colgate University Men's Soccer team came away with more than soccer matches. It was about embracing new experiences, making memories, and experiencing England through Vertex Soccer. Each moment, whether on the field or exploring England, added to their journey, reminding them that soccer is a language spoken worldwide.
